 Black steel tubes are manufactured as seamless tubes, which makes them a better type for gas transport and fire sprinkler systems as they are more fire-resistant than galvanized tubes. Black iron pipe is also most commonly used in fire sprinkler systems because of its high heat resistance and is most often used in water supply lines because of its resistance to water damage. Because of the dark surface formed from iron oxide during manufacturing, it is called black steel pipe

        The main difference between steel pipe and galvanized pipe is the surface. Black steel tubes are uncoated and contain no steam, so they are widely used to deliver gases such as propane and natural gas to residential and commercial buildings.
